Benrinnes 15 year old
Flora & Fauna
The iconic Heather Rooster bottling from Scotland was the first official bottling from the distillery. Particularly robust, the whisky produced by Benrinnes can also be exceptionally round. This is the case with this version, mainly matured in Sherry casks, which offers a rich and silky fruity style, beautiful density, and heady notes of spices and dried fruits.
A must-have for Scotch whisky connoisseurs, the so-called "Flora & Fauna" range is little known to the general public. Launched in the 1990s by United Distillers & Vintners, this series was originally intended to showcase distilleries that did not bottle under their own name. There were also non-reduced versions until the 2000s. The complete collection comprises 26 references, released over time, some of which are now discontinued and have become true collectors' items. The paternity of the name "Flora & Fauna" in reference to the animals and plants depicted on the various labels is attributed to the whisky writer and critic Michael Jackson.

Benrinnes started with a first distillery, built in 1826, which was named after the nearby waterfall, "Lyne of Ruthrie". It was washed away 3 years later when the nearby river flooded. The existing distillery was built immediately after that, a few kilometres away. In 1845, it was renamed Benrinnes by John Ines, the owner at that time. In 1896, it was destroyed once again, this time by fire. In 1956, it was almost completely rebuilt as we know it today. For a long time, Benrinnes was one of the few Scottish distilleries to practice partial and complex triple distillation. Since 2007, the six stills have been working in pairs for a classic double distillation. The current name of the distillery comes from the 841-meter Ben Rinnes mountain, which dominates the area where the towns of Dufftown, Knockando and Charlestown of Aberlour are located.
