Dominican excellence since 1888
Pioneers, from generation to generation, since 1888. That’s what the heirs of « Papa » Andres, the founder of Brugal, a little Dominican rum distillery become worldwide famous, are. If the company’s reputation is now of international scale, the fifth generation of producers is still driven by the patriarch’s family spirit and values of excellence. Just like Jassil Villanueva, the island’s first woman maestra ronera, the craftsmen of this 100% Dominican rum perpetuate the company’s ancient expertise, while continuously improving it thanks to their inspiration and thirst for innovation. With only one goal at heart, and in every gesture : making the best rum there is. A journey towards perfection that has been lasting for 135 years.
Brugal 1888
Hallmark of the Brugal company, the 1888 expression benefits from the Dominican brand’s signature ageing, with its combination of ex-Bourbon (6 to 8 years) and ex-Oloroso Sherry casks (4 to 6 years), entirely conducted at the distillery’s facilities. This long and thorough maturation under the tropical sun gives the spirit its deep amber colour and its rich vanilla, spicy and wood driven aromas, intertwined with notes of red fruit and cocoa.

Brugal Collección Visionaria, Edición n°1
Heir of a 135 years old craftsmanship and experience in rum ageing, Jassil Villanueva also happens to be a woman of great initiative and innovation. She was the one to imagine this spirit – the first of a series of three – arisen from a unique process of aromatic roasting of the casks. After the Brugal company’s hallmark double maturation, the rum is finished in virgin oak casks that have been previously roasted with Dominican cocoa pods. An innovative approach that enlightens the natural aromas of Brugal rums (dried fruits, orange peel, vanilla), coated in deep and spicy black chocolate notes.

Brugal Collección Visionaria, Edición n°2
Brugal Colección Visionaria Edición 02 embodies the Dominican tradition of the 'cafecito', a shared moment over coffee that brings together family and friends. Inspired by this custom, this edition celebrates the aromatic richness of coffee and the elegance of Dominican rum. Aged in virgin European oak casks toasted with coffee beans, this rum offers a unique sensory experience. On the nose, caramel and fresh coffee notes blend with dark chocolate and vanilla. On the palate, spices—cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg—interlace with raisin accents and a deep coffee flavour. The finish reveals balanced flavours and a hint of smooth smoke.

Since 1888, the rums from the Brugal range have been made out of 100% local molasses at the Dominican Republic’s Puerto Plato Distillery. Distilled in a continuous still, the impressively light liquids are then aged in a combination of ex-Bourbon and ex-Oloroso Sherry casks. A double maturation that has been Brugal’s signature since day one. The spirits are then patiently aged under the Dominican sun, which the angels are particularly aware of (up to 12% evaporation in a warehouse reaching 25°C at times) and that is a great part of the unique process and taste of Brugal rums.
