Linkwood 12 year old
Flora & Fauna
The Linkwood 12-year-old from the Flora & Fauna series is a true dream of a summer night. A nocturnal stroll through a sleeping garden, carpeted with white flowers, and bordered by fruit trees. A distillate of rare delicacy, but not lacking in substance. It can become oily, and heady notes of cedar and sandalwood even make their appearance, lining this dream with a subtle oriental touch.
A must-have for Scotch whisky connoisseurs, the so-called "Flora & Fauna" range is little known to the general public. Launched in the 1990s by United Distillers & Vintners, this series was originally intended to showcase distilleries that did not bottle under their own name. There were also non-reduced versions until the 2000s. The complete collection comprises 26 references, released over time, some of which are now discontinued and have become true collectors' items. The paternity of the name "Flora & Fauna" in reference to the animals and plants depicted on the various labels is attributed to the whisky writer and critic Michael Jackson.

Most whisky lovers have probably never heard of Linkwood. And yet, its malt, both full-bodied and light, is one of the most distinguished in Scotland and is highly prized by blenders. Linkwood belongs to the aristocracy of distilleries, those which produce whiskies able to age for many years and to adapt exceptionally to all types of casks. Built in 1821 but only operating since the 1823 Excise Act, Linkwood has been refurbished, modernised and rebuilt several times. Diageo (then DCL) has owned it since 1932 and it came close to representing Speyside in the Classic Malts series. One of its few official bottlings is a 12 Year Old in the "Flora & Fauna" series.
