Yoichi 10 year old

Produced at the Yoichi distillery on the island of Hokkaido, this 10-year-old single malt remains faithful to the tradition established by Masataka Taketsuru in the early 20th century. Located near the sea and subject to a harsh climate, the distillery employs direct coal-fired stills, a rare technique that imparts a dense texture and marked smoky character to the distillate. Maturation occurs mainly in American oak casks, previously used for bourbon or xérès, enabling a gradual and complex aromatic development. The nose reveals dry peat, smoked wood, beeswax and dried fruits. On the palate, the structure is firm and balanced, with notes of sea salt, leather, roasted hazelnut, baked apple and liquorice. The peat is integrated with restraint, contributing subtle complexity without overwhelming the profile. The finish is long, suggesting cold smoke, blond tobacco and resinous spices.
