Scottish Barley Heavily Peated

After the purchase of the Bruichladdich distillery by Remy-Cointreau, the Port Charlotte single malts range was completely revamped in 2018. A new 10-year-old, made with 100% Scottish barley, replaces the previous version launched in 2012. The aging process is mainly done in Bourbon casks with a small part aged in French wine casks. It is a peated single malt (40 ppm) and bottled at 50%. The aromatic palette develops notes of dry peat smoke (ashy fireplace, tar), burnt oak wood, shellfish (clams), salted butter caramel, citrus (clementines, oranges), ripe orchard fruits (red apples, apricots, yellow peaches, grapes), exotic fruits (mangoes, guavas, coconuts), vanilla (custard), intense honey, and spices (liquorice, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, ginger).
