The Distillery

Arguably one of the most popular single malts, Dalmore is the result of an unusual and complex distillation process, with eight stills operating in two quartets, each with one still much larger than the other three. Their shape is also particularly unusual: the top of the wash stills is flat and condensers are built into the swan neck of the spirits stills. In terms of maturation, it is often ex-sherry casks that are favoured, from the famous Bodega Gonzalez-Byass. The result is a whisky which is often full and mellow, but always well balanced. The distillery, in a traditional Victorian style, is located not far from Black Isle, the black island which inspired Hergé for his comic book.
