The Distillery
When James Gordon and Alexander MacPhail opened their grocery, wine and spirits store in Elgin's South Street in 1895, little did they know that one day their name would become one of the most famous and recognised in the world of whisky. Run for four generations by the Urquhart family, the company is now arguably the largest bottler of Scotch whisky in the world. Its bottlings are widely sought after and appreciated by malt lovers, notably its the "Connoisseurs Choice", which introduced them to many distilleries. Gordon & MacPhail has also owned the Benromach distillery since 1993.
