Too often overlooked, like most of its counterparts in the Eastern Highlands, Royal Lochnagar Distillery nonetheless produces a world-class whisky. Queen Victoria didn't mistake it when she visited in 1848. Ideally located near her Balmoral Castle, producing a refined, warm malt with subtly wooded and spicy notes, the distillery quickly received the first of the 3 "royal warrants" ever granted by the British crown to a Scottish distillery.
